Close the Door

Now as the name of this blog implies I am always looking for ways to maximize my utility. So while reading the Times this morning I found one thing that was preventing me from do just that. So I have decided to start closing the door on a few of my options.

Wow... I really enjoyed that article. I can totally relate to wanting to leave too many doors open. very good read.

I find it fun, and rather ironic that you of all people would post this article. This article may be telling you to close doors, but what the real underlying message is is to commit and to move forward. Something that both us know that you are not good at. Don't get me wrong, I am not good at it either. I have a hard time deciding where the desk should go without an ad hoc committee meeting on the matter. But for every choice you make you are also making a choice not to do the thing you are passing up which can sometimes be the even harder decision. You accepting this new job has shut the door on you going to grad school and now you feel the sting. That sting is what keeps me up at night and what I try to avoid at all cost. The next article you post should be about how to be okay with the choices you do make. That would be something I need to see.

P.S. My middle name is Lynnette, not Lynette. I am not sure how the misspelling occured, but I cannot figure out how to get google to change it back. So from now on I will call it goole. I hate you goole.

I read this article like 3 times and just kept thinking - these kids are idiots. I mean it's as if they know nothing of their utility - shut the door, get the money! GG tell them!

Don't say utility just to get on Gavin's good side.
